Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents

Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Abatement Technologies Vent Sanitizing: The Parker Owner’s Guide

Abatement Technologies vent sanitizing systems installed in Parker homes typically run $340-$620 for a complete service including the CAP600-series UV-C module or equivalent sanitizing hardware, and we stock the common replacement lamps and ballast assemblies on our trucks. Most jobs we can schedule within two business days, and the work carries our written 365-Day Done Right Promise. Homeowners usually figure out something’s wrong when the musty smell returns right after a standard duct cleaning, or when they notice the UV indicator light on their Abatement Technologies unit has gone dark.

Which Abatement Technologies Models This Applies To

Abatement Technologies builds several vent sanitizing product lines, and the part you need depends on which series is mounted to your plenum (the main distribution box, usually sheet metal, sitting on top of your furnace).

The CAP600-UV is the unit we see most often in Parker homes built between 2015 and 2020, particularly in the Canterberry and Idyllwilde subdivisions where builders spec’d them as add-ons during new construction. It uses a 16-inch T5 UV-C lamp with a 4-pin single-end base. The older CAP300 series takes a shorter 12-inch lamp and has a separate magnetic ballast rather than the electronic ballast found in the 600 series. The CAP600-UV also added a quartz sleeve around the lamp, which the CAP300 lacked. That sleeve cracks more often than people expect, especially if the furnace blower cycles hard during Parker’s dry winter heating season.

We carry both OEM Abatement Technologies lamps and a quality aftermarket equivalent from UVDI that matches the 16-inch, 4-pin, 55-watt spec. The OEM lamp runs about 9,000 hours before output drops below effective sanitizing levels. The aftermarket equivalent is rated similarly. We publish which one we’re installing on the written price sheet before work starts, Haven Standard Clause 1. CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning Parker is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Abatement Technologies.

Signs Your Abatement Technologies Vent Sanitizing Is Failing

Signs Your Abatement Technologies Vent Sanitizing Is Failing
  • The UV indicator light is out or flickering. The blue glow you could see through the viewport is gone, which usually means the lamp has reached end-of-life or the ballast failed. Lamps degrade slowly, so by the time the light goes fully dark, the unit has been running below effective output for weeks.
  • Musty or sour smells return within days of duct cleaning. The UV-C spectrum at 254 nanometers is what suppresses microbial growth on the coil and in the drain pan. When output drops, that biological load rebounds fast, especially in Parker’s variable spring humidity when cottonwood fluff and pollen load the system.
  • Visible dust accumulation on the coil despite recent service. A working UV lamp reduces the biofilm that traps particulate. If the coil is dirty again inside two months, the lamp is likely not producing enough intensity.
  • The quartz sleeve is cloudy or cracked when inspected. Hard water scale and oxidation cloud the sleeve over time, blocking UV transmission. We see this more in Parker homes on well water in the Stonegate and Bradbury Ranch areas, where mineral content runs higher than city supply.
  • Unit hums but produces no detectable UV output. This points to ballast failure, not lamp failure. The CAP600’s electronic ballast is a sealed unit; when it goes, the whole assembly gets replaced.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range What’s Included
UV-C lamp replacement (CAP300/CAP600) $180-$260 Lamp, sleeve inspection, output meter verification, photo record
Ballast assembly replacement $220-$340 Electronic ballast, wiring check, full system test
Complete sanitizing service with hardware $340-$620 Lamp, ballast if needed, sleeve cleaning or replacement, plenum seal check, documented photo record of every duct run

The range depends on three things: whether we can access the unit without cutting into the plenum, whether the quartz sleeve is salvageable, and whether the original wiring harness has been damaged by heat cycling. Every price is written and agreed before we touch a tool. The lamp carries a 1-year replacement warranty; our labor carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

There is one thing a homeowner can safely check: the viewport on the side of the CAP600 housing. If it’s dark when the blower is running, the lamp is likely failed. Do not remove the access cover yourself. The 120V ballast is live whenever the furnace is powered, and the quartz sleeve, if cracked, can release mercury vapor from a spent lamp. We’ve also found units where a previous owner wired the UV to constant-hot rather than blower-interlocked, which creates an energized condition you cannot assume is safe.

What we do: pull the plug at the disconnect, verify zero energy with a meter, remove and inspect the sleeve under task lighting, and meter the actual UV output at 6 inches with a calibrated radiometer. The photo record shows you the sleeve condition and the meter reading before we close anything up. Tomas Reyes and our crew have handled these units in Parker’s climate long enough to know that a lamp that meters fine in a warm shop can read 20% low after a cold start in an unconditioned attic. That’s the difference between a parts swap and a proper service.
